About Our School

Westville is located in the northeastern corner of Gloucester County.  It is a small residential community with approximately 4,500 residents.

Parkview Elementary School, home of the Panthers, is the neighborhood school for approximately 350 students enrolled in Preschool through Sixth grade.  Upon reaching seventh grade, Westville students attend Gateway Regional High School in Woodbury Heights.  A wide range of services and a diverse curriculum are offered to the students enrolled in our school.

•    Technology continues to be expanded throughout the school. Students now have access to Distance Learning Equipment which allows them to communicate with other places and take Virtual Field trips anywhere in the world. Smart Boards have been installed in 13 classrooms and are integrated into daily lessons.

•    Teachers employ a Balanced Literacy approach utilizing strategies from the Guided Reading and Rigby Programs to teach Language Arts Literacy.  Writing is integrated into reading to help students develop their own ideas and apply the things they have learned to new situations.  Students are exposed to a variety of literature, both fiction and non-fiction designed to create a love of reading while promoting higher level thinking skills.

•    Students continue to achieve high levels through the Everyday Mathematics program.  This hands-on approach to learning math challenges students and promotes critical thinking.

•    The Schools Attuned Program, which is a neuro-developmental approach to learning, allows teachers and parents to work together to find the best strategies for making students successful.  More information can be found at www.allkindsofminds.org.
